Assay Development
Complete assay development may include any laboratory work from purification of an antigen to the finished analytical test. The following steps can be carried out separately or in combination:- Purification of protein antigens from biological fluids or tissues.
- Synthesis and purification of components for immunoassays or for immunohistochemistry.
- Characterisation and validation of an existing test for a different animal species.
- Development of an enzyme immunoassay from existing or available components (antiserum and/or antigen).
- Antiserum production and antibody characterisation for an existing or available antigen.
- Conversion of an existing radioimmunoassay (RIA) into an enzyme immunoassay (EIA, ELISA).
- Test development with synthetic peptides obtained using amino acid sequences from protein data bases.
- Carrying out of sample measurement.
- Development and production of test kits.
- Advice for establishing an analytical laboratory to carry out enzyme immunoassays.
- Establishment of assay procedures in a client’s laboratory.
