Antibody Production
Antiserum production is subcontracted to a specialized company since we do not work with animals in our laboratory. All further work including the measurement of antibody titre, immunisation success and, if necessary, antibody purification is carried out in our laboratory.This approach has the following advantages:
- animals are immunised by specialists under veterinary supervision
- a large pool of animals (usually rabbits) are available
- high quality animal husbandry and veterinary supervision
- compliance with animal welfare and legal requirements.
While every effort is made to support good antibody production, we cannot guarantee high quality antisera or successful assay development. An antiserum may be improved by further immunisation steps or by later application of biochemical purification programmes. Such time-consuming additions to the process will only take place in agreement with the client.
